Tottenham should cash in on Erik Lamela in next transfer window

Erik Lamela has been on the books with Tottenham since he joined for £25.7million (BBC) back in August 2013 and he’s provided supporters with some memorable moments.

The winger’s return of 33 goals and 47 assists in 214 appearances justifies the price tag Spurs paid Roma for him.

He is a skilful wide player that likes to cut onto his favoured left foot when possible and when he’s in full flow can be a real asset to the North London club.

But unfortunately the Argentina international has been plagued by injury problems throughout his time in the Premier League and there has always been a suggestion that it holds him back from reaching dizzy heights.

With his contract due to expire in 2022, Jose Mourinho’s side should look at showing Lamela the exit doors in the next transfer window and look to cash in on him.

Lamela has managed 27 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring four goals and supplying six assists in return.

But the 28-year-old is certainly not a reliant figure of the squad that is always in danger of picking up an injury.

He is a South American attacker that should receive plenty of interest if he becomes available, so Spurs should look to move him on and should make a healthy return on their £25million investment.

There is still plenty of firepower in wide areas with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Ryan Sessegnon, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura to cope if he leaves.
