Tottenham should be targeting Sebastien Haller, not Luka Jovic

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic this week. As reported by Calciomercato the Serbian, on loan from Benfica, is said to be on Spurs and Chelsea’s radar. That certainly makes sense, considering his form this term. He bagged five goals at the weekend, taking his tally to nine in 10 games for the Bundesliga side.

However, whilst Jovic has been in form this term, he is not the Frankfurt striker that Spurs should be looking at. Instead, they should be targeting the Frenchman, Sebastien Haller.

Haller has been in fine form as well this season. The 24-year-old has scored less, with five goals in 12 games. But his seven assists in the same timeframe explain why he is the better option. As reported by 90min in February, Frankfurt would be willing to do business for €30 million (£26.5 million).

Tottenham have been linked before. In 2016 it was reported by the London Evening Standard that the then FC Utrecht striker was a target for Spurs. He was even linked with Southampton whilst Pochettino was boss. However, after seeing how ineffective Vincent Janssen turned out to be, bringing in a player straight from the Eredivisie was perhaps not the right call.

But Haller has now proved himself in the Bundesliga and clearly has the potential to play in the Tottenham team.
