Tottenham should act now and snap up David Brooks in January

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale linked up with David Brooks for Wales last night to see off the Republic of Ireland.

Brooks, 23, tucked away the winning goal, with Bale getting the assist as Wales scraped a narrow 1-0 win against the Irish in their UEFA Nations League clash.

Of course, Bale is on loan with Spurs as things stand from Real Madrid, while Brooks is still with Bournemouth in the Championship, despite a host of clubs being interested in the summer.

Tottenham were said to be one of the teams monitoring Brooks, with the Mirror claiming back in the summer that Jose Mourinho had identified Brooks as a potential signing.

And given his performance last night for Wales and growing relationship with Bale, a January move for Brooks should be on the agenda for Tottenham and Mourinho again.

Welsh connections

Brooks is finding his feet once again with Bournemouth after a couple of bad injuries. However, as most followers of Premier League football will know, the former Sheffield United man is quite the handful on his day.

The 23-year-old is a great dribbler, has an eye for a goal, and can play across numerous attacking positions. His potential is massive, meaning he’d slot in nicely with an ever-improving Spurs side.

Welsh connections, too, could play a part in convincing him to move to north London. And it’s not just Bale either. Ben Davies is there, while Joe Rodon has also recently signed.

The chance of working closer to and more regularly with Bale can only be a good thing. Wales would benefit, while Tottenham would see Brooks improve under the guidance of the Welsh legend.

It goes without saying, then, that come January, David Brooks could well be top of Spurs’ shopping list.
