Breaking reports surfacing from the Telegraph earlier this afternoon have suggested that Manchester City and Tottenham have finally come to a financial agreement over Kyle Walker.
The report claims that City have decided to meet the north London side’s £50million price tag, meaning that the formalities can begin ahead of announcing Walker as a Manchester City player.
It is believed that the 27-year-old will be absent from pre-season training at Spurs tomorrow as both parties involved look to complete a deal as quickly as possible, with a medical set for Friday.
The two Premier League rivals have been locked in talks since early June – as per Sky Sports – with Guardiola unwilling to meet the £50million price tag, but missing out on Alves has forced a reaction.
With Walker’s exit looking inevitable, the Evening Standard have claimed that Porto defender Ricardo Pereira has been outlined as a ready-made replacement to take over the right-back role.
It is understood that, should Walker leave White Hart Lane, then boss Mauricio Pochettino would like to bring in another right-sided defender to challenge Kieran Tripper for a regular first-team role.
And the 23-year-old Portuguese defender has been given an achievable £22 million price tag by current employers Porto, despite spending the past two seasons on loan at Ligue One side Nice.
Pereira was an influential part of the Nice side that pushed both Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain close for the title throughout last season in France, making 24 appearances as they eventually fell short in third.
Further up the pitch, reports from Spain claim that Barcelona’s starring duo of Lionel Messi and Neymar have said that Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is destined to play at the Nou Camp one day.
The 21-year-old’s youthful exuberance, on top of his confidence that often verges on arrogance, is believed by Diario Gol to be exactly what the Spanish giants need as they look to topple Real Madrid from the top.
Barcelona suffered an indifferent season last year, losing out to their bitter rivals in La Liga by three points and being comprehensively dumped out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Juventus.
And, with Iniesta and Sergio Busquets not getting any younger, the addition of Alli could be the midfield signing needed for Barcelona to be at the top again, being directly involved in 25 goals last season.
