Tottenham round-up: Portugal midfielder set for talks; Marseille target midfield flop; Lamela targeted

Tottenham’s first signing of the summer could be taking place soon, with reports in The Sun suggesting that Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva is set to undergo talks with the club.

It is understood that representatives of the north London club will meet with both Sporting’s directors and Silva’s agents as both parties try to come to an agreement on a switch to England.

But Tottenham will still need to meet the Portuguese side’s asking price for the 28-year-old of around £26.5 million, after Portugal-based outlet Record claimed in June that a £17.5 million bid was rejected.

Silva has just returned from the Confederations Cup with his country, reaching the semi-final stage before being knocked out by Chile, and he has starred at Sporting since his first-team debut in 2007.

In other news, the Standard have claimed that French side Marseille are continuing their pursuit of underwhelming Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko as the summer window goes on.

Despite only arriving at White Hart Lane last season – and costing £30 million – it is believed that the north London side are prepared to let him leave should they re-coup a small part of his transfer fee.

The 27-year-old managed just seven Premier League starts last season and it is likely that he will feature just as little in the new campaign, potentially forcing him into finding a new club.

Marseille are reportedly keen to get a deal done before the summer ends and, if Sissoko does move to Ligue One, he would be the second Spurs player to do so behind £6 million midfielder Clinton Njie.

Another potential midfield exit has been outlined in Italian reports this morning, with Calciomercato claiming that Inter Milan are upping their interest in Erik Lamela.

It is believed that, with the 25-year-old Argentinian returning to training after being side-lined since October through injury, the Serie A side have re-ignited past interest and will look to bring him in.

The report claims that Spurs boss Pochettino would be willing to listen to offers from elsewhere, with first-team football not guaranteed against the likes of Christian Eriksen, Delli Alli and Heung-Min Son.
