Barkley miss

Football.London has reported on the saga involving Ross Barkley and Tottenham Hotspur last season.

Spurs were very keen on the player in the pre-season and again wanted to bring him in come January.

The report claims that despite Daniel Levy willing to pay the £15 million fee for the player, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino had decided to move on to other targets – namely Lucas Moura.

Barkley could face Tottenham at the weekend when Spurs welcome Chelsea to Wembley.

Falque on Spurs spell

Former Tottenham youngster Iago Falque has spoken about his spell at the club. As reported by Goal, he admitted the move may not have been a ‘wise decision’ but that it had helped him ‘mature’.

Falque spent three years at Spurs before leaving for Genoa in 2014. He is now a regular for Torino.

Trio absent

Tottenham may be without their Argentine trio of Erik Lamela, Paulo Gazzaniga and Juan Foyth for the upcoming clash with Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard.

The three players were in international action against Mexico last night and are are not expected back to the club until Friday.

However, Christian Eriksen and Davinson Sanchez are both fit again.
