The Independent has reported over the past day that Tottenham and Arsenal have received a big blow in their battle to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar with the French side not expecting to sell him.

It is now thought that the current Ligue One champions have told the North London rivals that the young winger won’t be leaving France this summer after already selling some of their vital players.

Bernardo Silva has already joined Manchester City, with Benjamin Mendy set to follow, whilst midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of a £35 million Chelsea switch according to the The Sun.

The Independent had reported earlier in the week that Arsenal had submitted a £31 million bid for 21-year-old Lemar, but it’s believed that Monaco were surprised at how low their opening offer was.

The report claims that Tottenham have ended their interest after the latest developments in the Lemar saga, and will instead focus their efforts elsewhere.

In other news, reports coming from Italy have hinted that Tottenham have submitted an offer for AC Milan midfielder Suso after he claimed that he’s received bids from “three Champions League clubs”.

Yet the bad news for Spurs supporters is that the 23-year-old has committed his future to the Italian outfit, insisting that he’s more than happy to remain at the San Siro indefinitely.

Suso has two years left on his current contract at Milan, with both the player and club keen on extending this even further, but contract negotiations are yet to begin heading into the summer.

Talking to Sky Italia yesterday, the former Liverpool man said:

“We had an agreement in December to get the contract renewal, but it seems as if right now they have other priorities.

“I have three offers from Champions League clubs but I want to stay here as I am very happy with the fans and the coach.

Suso has reignited his career in Italy after an underwhelming spell in the Premier League with Liverpool, being involved in 16 goals last season as AC Milan fell just short of the Europa League.

Meanwhile, according to reports in the Evening Standard, this morning, Tottenham are on the verge of agreeing a new five-year contract with right-back Kieran Trippier.

It is understood that talks have reached an advanced stage at White Hart Lane and – although no official announcement has been made as of yet – it is expected a deal will be finalised in a few days.

The 26-year-old has grown into Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season after a run of impressive performances, being preferred in the starting eleven for the North London derby and FA Cup semi.

This eventually led to Trippier’s debut call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the friendly defeat to France last month, and he’s quickly becoming a first-team contender at White Hart Lane.

This news comes on the same day that the Sun has reported that talks have opened between Manchester City and Spurs over the transfer of Kyle Walker, with the defender keen on a switch.
