It is understood by the Mirror that Manchester United have set their sights on signing Tottenham and England star forward Harry Kane this summer for a potential fee of £100 million.
The report suggests that Jose Mourinho has outlined his preference to go for the prolific 23-year-old forward instead of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo – despite the Daily Record stoking the fire about a potential move, by saying last week that the ex-United man would be happy to make a return to Old Trafford.
It is believed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not prepared to listen to any offers for his main players, but an offer in the region of £100million – breaking the world record – could turn his head.

Mourinho is said to be a huge fan of the England international and, to challenge for both the Premier League and Champions League next season, he thinks that Kane is the perfect natural goal-scorer.
Kane has enjoyed another exceptional season for Tottenham, winning the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season after notching 27 times in just 33 Premier League games last campaign.
The Mirror have also reported today that Harry Kane’s fellow striker at Spurs Vincent Janssen could be on his way to the Bundesliga after Borussia Monchengladbach have shown interest.
The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for £17 million last summer, failing to budge the imperious Kane from his starting role as a forward.
This lack of sustained first-team football meant that, despite his best efforts, he struggled to build up any sense of form or momentum all season and only managed to find the net twice.
And it seems that boss Mauricio Pochettino could consider cutting his losses this summer after the Bundesliga side have shown interest, with it unlikely that Janssen would feature much next season.

Meanwhile, according to further reports in the Sunday Mirror it is thought that Kyle Walker is growing increasingly confident of completing a move to Manchester City over the summer window.
Reports believe that the 27-year-old right-back is expecting to be a City player by the time they jet off for their pre-season tour of the USA next month – telling friends it will be finalised in the next weeks.
The Daily Mail had reported last week that talks had stalled between the two Premier League rivals over a transfer fee, with Tottenham unwilling to drop below their initial valuation of £50 million.
Yet, despite things slowing down Walker remains confident that a deal will take place in the near future, with the transfer window set to officially open next Saturday (June 1).
