Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has reportedly demanded wages of £150,000-a-week if he completes a move to Tottenham this summer, according to the Mirror on Wednesday afternoon.
It is understood that the England international wants to become the highest paid player at White Hart Lane – earning £30,000-a-week more than current highest paid duo Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.
Nonetheless, Sky Sports have since refuted these claims, with sources close to Barkley suggesting that these reports are “untrue”.
While potentially false, these latest rumours could further complicate a potential deal between the Premier League rivals, with Everton still unwilling to budge on their original £50 million valuation of Barkley.
The 23-year-old was left out of Everton’s squad for the recent friendly in Tanzania, also being overlooked for Ronald Koeman’s squad for upcoming games against FC Twente and Genk this week.
Meanwhile, The Sun have claimed that Tottenham could potentially have to fork out some of their own money to offload French flop Moussa Sissoko this summer.
After a woeful first season at White Hart Lane – arriving from Newcastle on a £30 million deal last summer – it is believed that there has been little interest in the 27-year-old during the window so far.
This could leave Spurs with no choice but to loan Sissoko out next year, and with his current wage package so high at around £85,000-a-week it’s likely they will have to supplement this themselves.
Despite being Mauricio Pochettino’s most expensive signing ever in north London the French international only managed eight Premier League starts last season, failing to score all campaign.
Midfielders seem like a topical conversation with regards to Tottenham today, with reports from Italy now suggesting that AC Milan have rejected a £19.5 million bid from Spurs for playmaker Suso.
Calciomercato claim that Pochettino’s side have tried to take advantage of delayed contract talks between the Spaniard and the Serie A side, looking to swoop in and persuade Suso to return to England.
However, their opening offer for the ex-Liverpool man has been rejected, with sources close to the Italian news outlet believing that it would take an offer of closer to £22.5 million to tempt them into selling.
It’s yet to be seen whether Tottenham will return with an improved offer. Sources also detail that Suso has little motivation to leave Italy after a highly impressive season.
