Tottenham round-up: Chelsea in £50m swoop for Rose; Ajax defender deal in jeopardy; interest in Wimmer

According to reports coming from The Sun early this morning, Chelsea are preparing themselves to submit a formal bid for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose just hours after the rivals meet on Sunday.

In the exclusive report it is claimed that Antonio Conte will make a £50million offer for the England international once the two sides have met in their Premier League clash at Wembley this weekend.

The Italian is keen to bolster his left-sided defensive options but their pursuit of Juventus’ Alex Sandro has failed so far – as per the Evening Standard – meaning his attentions have now turned to Rose.

After Rose’s revealing interview with The Sun last week, where he claimed that he isn’t paid ‘what he’s worth’ over at White Hart Lane, Chelsea are looking to capitalise on his situation and make a late move.

Yet, contrary to these reports, the Evening Standard understand that Tottenham won’t even begin entertaining any offers for the 27-year-old, especially if they come from Premier League title rivals.

Elsewhere, Chelsea could prove to be a thorn in Tottenham’s side for another reason over the next few days as reports from Holland claim they’ve joined the race for Ajax’s young prodigy Davinson Sanchez.

Reports emanating from the Evening Standard just yesterday claimed that Tottenham representatives were in Holland to try and push through a deal for the 21-year-old defender, with personal terms agreed.

However, Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf now believe that Chelsea, along with Spanish giants Real Madrid, are both keen on signing the Ajax youngster as the transfer window begins to heat up.

The report claims that, despite Tottenham’s willingness to pay a transfer fee that potentially rises towards €50 million (£45 million), the Dutch side are playing a waiting game to listen to further offers.

In other news, should Sanchez make the switch to north London before the end of the summer transfer window, reports coming from The Sun claim Kevin Wimmer could be allowed to leave.

The 24-year-old Austrian is already below the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order and the arrival of another centre-back may seal his fate.

The report alleges that fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Stoke are both monitoring Wimmer’s situation, with a switch to Palace deemed the most likely destination for regular football.
