According to sensational reports coming from the Daily Express on Sunday morning, Barcelona are allegedly lining up a big-money offer to try and lure Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli to the Nou Camp.
After selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain last week in a world-record £200 million transfer it is believed that the La Liga giants have now turned their attentions to Alli as a potential replacement.
And the report claims that Barcelona’s financial capabilities could offer the 21-year-old a much higher wage package than he currently earns at White Hart Lane, hoping to tempt him into a move.
Having said that, contrary reports coming from the Daily Express had claimed just last week that Tottenham were considering offering Alli a rise in salary to ward off any advances from Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are reportedly plotting a £50million swoop for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier this summer as they look to challenge for the Champions League once again next season.
The Sun understands that boss Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of Dier’s versatility, being able to slot in defensively or in the midfield, and he believes he could truly test Tottenham’s resolve with an offer.
And although the north London side have already rebuffed Manchester United’s attempts to sign the 23-year-old over the past few months, Ancelotti thinks his side have a better chance of pushing through a deal.
Aside from transfer speculation, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino faces a nervous wait to see the extent of Kieran Trippier’s injury after he limped off during the victory over Juventus yesterday.
The 26-year-old lasted just 41 minutes at Wembley Stadium on Saturday – twice going down under strong challenges from Alex Sandro – and now faces an assessment on Monday to see the damage.
Trippier’s injury will come as a huge blow for Spurs just a week before the new Premier League season, with inexperienced 20-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters the only fit right-back available for the Newcastle trip.
Speaking after the match, the Evening Standard quotes Pochettino as saying:
“We don’t know how serious it is yet. We will wait until Monday but the feeling at the moment is good. I cannot guess if he will be ready for Newcastle.”
Trippier set up the opener as goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen either side of half-time ensured that Tottenham’s pre-season preparations ended positively against a strong Juventus side.
