Tottenham round-up: £200m price-tag for striker; Tottenham legend urges Kane to stay; offer for Nice winger

Reports coming from the Independent this morning have claimed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has absolutely no intention of selling his star forward Harry Kane during the summer window.

It was claimed yesterday in the Mirror that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was contemplating a world record £100million move for the Spurs striker to add to his striking options.

But fresh reports this morning have dismissed any potential of a switch from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford, with it thought that Levy would only consider selling if an offer was closer to £200million.

Manchester United’s only hope is that, should Tottenham begin to fall down the Premier League table in the next few years and miss out on European football, then Kane might be open to switching clubs.

But speaking to talkSPORT today, ex-Tottenham player David Ginola has warned Harry Kane against a move to Manchester United, urging him to completely forget about rumours this summer.

The 23-year-old enjoyed another exceptional season last year – despite Tottenham falling short in the Premier League title race – scoring 27 times to win the Golden Boot for the second consecutive year.

And Ginola – who made over 100 appearances for Tottenham during his three-year stint there – has said that the young striker is pivotal to Spurs’ chances of challenging for the league title next season.

Talking today, the Frenchman said: “Harry Kane should stay at Spurs.

“Spurs need Harry Kane to stay if they are to win the Premier League next season.

“That’s very important. Tottenham had a great season and finished runners-up last year.

“They need to keep their best assets if they want to win anything in the next few years, and Harry Kane, along with the likes of Dele Alli, is one of their best assets.”

Meanwhile, the The Sun have reported that Tottenham have touted young Nice winger Vincent Marcel as a potential signing this summer after stumbling across him last week.

Scouts at White Hart Lane had been sent to watch right-back Ricardo Pereira, who the Telegraph believe is lined up as a replacement for Kyle Walker, but instead it was Marcel who caught the eye.

Foot Mercato go as far as to report that the youngster has agreed to join the London outfit in principle, with a five year contract on the table.

The 20-year-old only managed six appearances for Nice in Ligue One last season but, with age on his side and natural ability and pace down the wings, Tottenham are keen on snapping him up quickly.

Despite still having four-years left on his current contract in France, it isn’t believed that there would be a huge transfer fee hanging over his head – and the lure of the Premier League could seal a move.
