Tottenham reportedly want to sign 'unbelievable' 25-year-old likened to Didier Drogba
With the World Cup bringing top-flight club football to a halt, Tottenham Hotspur can take stock and plan for the rest of the season.
The January transfer window is also on the horizon, so Spurs could well look to bolster their ranks.
Tottenham haven’t been poor this season, but there’s certainly a lot of room for improvement.
There are certain areas where Spurs could look to either overhaul or get more strength in depth.
And given the links between Tottenham and Italy, the peninsula’s outlets often link Spurs with Serie A players.
Corriere dello Sport – via Sport Witness – have claimed that Tottenham want Roma’s Tammy Abraham.
As well as Spurs, Aston Villa are apparently in pursuit of the 25-year-old.
Tottenham ‘admirers’ of Abraham
Now, it’s worth mentioning that Abraham is apparently not considering a January exit.
However, the report suggests that the England international will be able to leave in the summer.
Abraham ‘wonders about the future’ after a disappointing start to the season and ‘the first whistles’ from his club’s fanbase.
However, he continues to have ‘admirers’ in England, with Tottenham reportedly known to ‘like him’.
The future is ‘all to be written’ at the end of the season, even if Chelsea can exercise an option to bring him back.
The forward is looking to ‘regain his enthusiasm’ during the World Cup break after a poor first half of the season.
He has struggled for the kind of form he enjoyed last term.
Even Jose Mourinho, previously a big supporter, has criticised him in recent weeks.
Therefore, Abraham is very much ‘waiting to see what will happen’ in June.
And Tottenham are among his ‘admirers’ in the Premier League and ready to move in case the player opts to leave.
Great shout for Spurs – TBR View
Abraham may be struggling for form at present, but form is temporary, while his qualities are well known.
He’s good with his back to goal, is an excellent finisher and he can run in behind as well.
Abraham was outstanding for Roma last season, scoring 27 goals in all competitions.
His style of play has earned comparisons with another former Chelsea star in Didier Drogba.
Abraham would certainly be a great shout for Spurs, but chances are he wouldn’t come cheap.
