Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Spurs fancy their chances of signing the Italy international midfielder.

Tottenham could potentially make a move for Frattesi when the transfer window reopens in January.

Antonio Conte is apparently keen on the idea of signing a midfielder who can bring goals from a central position.

Spurs were linked with several creative midfielders during the summer transfer window.

However, their attempts to sign Nicolo Zaniolo and Christian Eriksen fell short.

At present, Tottenham have a good choice of midfielders, but many of those are defensively minded.

Could Spurs look to Frattesi – who reportedly has a £36m price tag – to bring in some craft in the middle of the park?

Sassuolo has been a real conveyor belt of talent over the past few years and Frattesi is no different.

The 23-year-old joined the Neroverdi from Roma in 2017 for a reported £4.5mi.

He has taken in three loan spells – Ascoli, Empoli and Monza – before breaking into the Sassuolo first team.

Frattesi has 47 Sassuolo appearances to his name, registering six goals and four assists.

This season, he has two goals from seven Serie A outings.

Frattesi also broke into the Italy squad this year and has three caps to his name.

ScoutedFTBL wrote about the midfielder earlier this year.

‘English pundits would love to commentate on Frattesi’s matches,’ they wrote.

‘He brings pace, power, passion and desire to the game, and has been a consistent performer that rarely puts in bad shift.

‘He’s a big-bodied midfielder that throws his weight around, bruises the opposition and seeks to dominate within his sphere of influence.

‘He looks like a nightmare to play against as he constantly snaps at the heels of his direct opponent in attempts to win back possession.

‘And he is quick too, regularly demonstrating great recovery speed that makes him a very valuable asset when defending in transition – an important virtue in a ball-dominant team that wants to defend high up the pitch.’

On Twitter, fans compared Frattesi to the likes of Nicolo Barella, Claudio Marchisio and Conor Gallagher.

And better still for Tottenham Frattesi has made it known in the past he is open to a move to the Premier League.
