Tottenham want to hold talks with Christian Eriksen over a new contract before the closure of the European transfer window, as per the Independent.
They report that Tottenham want to see if they can convince the playmaker to remain at the club, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Atletico Madrid and Juventus are named in the report as potential destinations, but there’s an acknowledgement that his options may be limited and his preferred move would be Real Madrid.
The report says that Tottenham would rather sell him this summer than let him leave for nothing in a year’s time, so the outcome of the talks is crucial.

TBR’s View – Eriksen’s departure would only ramp up the pressure on Lo Celso
Tottenham may feel they’ve pre-emptively replaced Eriksen with the signings of Tanguy Ndombele and in particular, Giovani Lo Celso.
But Ndombele has less guile than Eriksen, while Lo Celso has not had a full pre-season with his new team-mates to get up to speed with their movements in the same way that Eriksen now knows them intrinsically.
Lo Celso would likely be charged with taking up the playmaking mantle, but Eriksen showed just how good he is on Saturday against Aston Villa.
Losing the Dane would really ramp up the pressure on the Argentine new-boy.
