Tottenham reportedly want £45m-rated star that Jamie Redknapp labelled an ‘amazing weapon’ in 2020

Tottenham and Nuno Espirito Santo have been repeatedly linked with Wolves players – since the gaffer swapped clubs. The latest name is Adama Traore, with Tottenham keen to bolster their attacking department. Jamie Redknapp’s 2020 verdict will excite fans about Wolves powerhouse Traore.

Traore, 25, endured a tricky season at Wolves last season – scoring just two goals in 37 Premier League appearances. Perhaps it might have been three, though his cannon-like effort against Leeds hit the post and went in off Illan Meslier. It was his 2019-20 form that caught the eye, though.

During the season in which Wolves reached the last eight of the Europa League, the electric-heeled Traore produced 18 goal involvements. Tottenham want him, with a report from The Mail claiming Wolves are open to his exit, if they can secure around £45million. Redknapp said:

“Traore is an amazing weapon,” Redknapp told the Mail in 2020. “With him as an outlet, you can turn defence into attack with one long ball. You know he is capable of catching it. He frightens the life out of opponents – would you want to be given the job of marking him?”

Traore to Tottenham makes perfect sense, amid Redknapp comments

Tottenham need Traore – and that is exacerbated by Redknapp and his verdict 18 months ago. Gareth Bale has left the club for a second time and will see out the remainder of his contract at Real Madrid. So, a new right winger is needed – with Erik Lamela going and Bryan Gil coming in.

But Gil is 20 and hardly ready to go right now as the club’s first choice option. Lucas Moura is impressing in pre-season, but some reports suggest he could go. Traore offers Tottenham something different and Nuno can get the best out of him. £45million is expensive, but so worth it.
