Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to meet Leeds United’s valuation of teenager Jack Clarke, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
They report that Spurs are seriously interested in the English winger but are unlikely to match the asking price – as Daniel Levy’s approach of driving a hard bargain continues.
Clarke enjoyed something of a breakthrough season at Elland Road last term as Marcelo Bielsa put his faith in youth to supplement his thin squad and implement his passing style of football.
And Tottenham have a reputation for blooding young English talent under Mauricio Pochettino, who needs to do it to boost his own ranks.

But it is likely best for Clarke to remain at his boyhood club and continue his development with more regular gametime in the Championship at this stage.
He is far from the finished article and perhaps that’s why Tottenham aren’t willing to take the plunge – and that’s to Leeds’ benefit as they look to go one better than last season’s third place finish.
Players like Clarke help create a greater connection between the squad and the fans and he is a genuinely exciting prospect for next season if his development continues in the same way.
