Tottenham reportedly set to demand over £100m for wantaway midfielder Eriksen

Tottenham want more than £100 million to let Christian Eriksen leave the club this summer, according to a report by the Times.

They report that Eriksen has said for the first time that he wants to leave north London and Real Madrid have made inquiries about the Danish international playmaker.

Apparently, Real are the calibre of club good enough to turn Eriksen’s head and the Dane has not ruled out letting the final year of his contract run down and leaving as a free agent next summer.

But that has apparently not put Tottenham off setting an enormous asking price for any club who wants to take Eriksen in this window.

It’s a bold negotiating stance from Tottenham that could see Eriksen leave for free next summer or the Dane agitating for a move at a more affordable price in the coming months.

Daniel Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator and will likely not budge on his asking price – but it seems fanciful that any club would pay one of the highest ever fees world football has seen for a player they could get for free the following year.

Teams from abroad can even start talking to Eriksen as soon as January 2020 if the contract situation goes unresolved – so it remains to be seen how this plays out for Spurs.
