Tottenham reportedly plotting summer clearout with eight players available for sale

Eight Tottenham Hotspur players have been placed up for sale in the current transfer window, according to a report by the Daily Telegraph.

Some of the names on reportedly the list – striking flop Vincent Janssen, stagnating defender Cameron Carter-Vickers as well as faltering talents Josh Onomah and Marcus Edwards – are perhaps not surprising.

But senior stars Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier and Victor Wanyama all apparently feature also – as Mauricio Pochettino could be set to embark on a ruthless full back cull like Manchester City’s from 2017.

Tottenham have finally splashed big money on Tanguy Ndombele, but perhaps the best way for Pochettino to freshen up his squad is by shedding some of the old faces.

Perhaps Rose is the main one that would be a surprise; he returned to form in 2018/19, gives everything for the cause and still has plenty to offer.

Aurier and Trippier endured torrid seasons, but selling both right backs would likely require at least one big-money arrival in that position and also put the onus on Kyle Walker-Peters to step up.

It’s a shame that Edwards hasn’t been able to realise his obvious potential and while there’s still time, it might be best for him to get a fresh start away from north London.
