Tottenham reportedly not interested in Youri Tielemans once again

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur hold no interest in Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans. The report claims that Leicester City are trying to push through a permanent £40 million deal for the player this summer. However, they face opposition from the likes of PSG and Manchester United after his impressive loan spell from AS Monaco.

But Tottenham are denied to be one of the teams keen on the player.

It will certainly disappoint Tottenham fans. Reports this summer had suggested a move might be on the cards. The player himself even told Sky Sports this week how flattered he was to hear of Tottenham’s interest.

“Yes [I am flattered by Man Utd and Spurs interest], they are really big teams in England and in Europe. To hear those names gives me confidence. I just try to play my game on the pitch and try my best.”

It will be doubly disappointing to any Tottenham fans who wanted Tielemans signed. This is the second occasion they have seemingly had the chance to snap him up.

As reported by The Telegraph, Daniel Levy had agreed a potential deal for the player in January. The chairman was reportedly awaiting a green-light from manager Mauricio Pochettino to sign the Belgian as a potential Mousa Dembele replacement.

However, as reported by Het Belang van Limburg, Pochettino was not convinced by the player and the loan with an option to buy deal was shelved.

Again, it appears Tielemans is an option and with Christian Eriksen’s future questionable, many a Spurs fan is likely to want the Belgian at the club. But it appears, for whatever reason, as though Pochettino has his doubts on the player.

Fans will hope Tottenham do not live to regret those doubts.
