Tottenham reportedly eye player Jamie Redknapp said is as good as Jack Grealish

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly added Bournemouth wide man David Brooks to their summer shortlist as Jose Mourinho looks to prepare for European football – and Jamie Redknapp’s recent comments will excite Spurs fans.

An ankle injury limited 23-year-old Brooks to just nine Premier League appearances this season, all of which came after the restart. He scored against Manchester City during a 2-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Last season though, the Wales international had a hand in 12 goals during 30 Premier League goals – scoring seven and creating five. Sky Sports claim that Brooks cost Bournemouth £11.5million in the summer of 2018.

The Evening Standard claim Spurs want to raid relegated Bournemouth for Brooks and Redknapp has claimed that Brooks is just as good as Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish – despite his lack of action of late.

“He [Brooks] is, I think alongside Jack Grealish, the best attacking player in the bottom six. He can make a difference to that team,” Redknapp told Sky Sports – as per the Daily Echo. “I think he’s a sensational young player.”

TBR’s view – Brooks is a sensational player, but Spurs standard?

Redknapp is seemingly an enormous fan of Brooks and knows all about the former Sheffield United man given he and his father’s close ties with Bournemouth. But as good as Grealish? It remains to be seen.

Spurs have plenty of options out wide in Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela, Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon. Despite Europa League qualification, Brooks would not get the necessary game time.

Yes, a good player, but perhaps Spurs is not the best move.
