Tottenham reportedly have Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on their transfer radar, who could end up being a brilliant target for them.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs and their London rivals Chelsea are both eyeing the 21-year-old following his breakout campaign in the Premier League.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho’s Spurs want a new back-up option going into next season and Bournemouth’s shot-stopper is one player under consideration.

The report explains that Bournemouth could struggle to keep hold of their rising star if the club suffer relegation, with the club currently sat 18th in the league standings.

Ramsdale may play for a team stuck in a relegation fight, but he’s certainly been one of their best players this year and it’s remarkable that he was out on loan in League One last season.

Spurs desperately need a major defensive rebuild during the next couple of transfer windows if they want to get back to competing at the top again, as a number of players appear to have reached the end of their peak.

The North London club could do with fresh options at centre-back and in the full-back areas, but there are questions marks in goal too.

Hugo Lloris, 33, is the Spurs captain that has been fantastic since he joined in 2012, but there is no doubt individual errors have been creeping into his game over the last year and his role has to be questioned.

Ramsdale looks an ideal young player to come in and challenge Lloris for the gloves next season, plus it would be no surprise to see him quickly overtake him if he can recreate the kind of form he’s shown this season.

The England Under-21 international could definitely help kickstart a new-look defensive and they need to rebuild at the back with some quality players signed in the window.
