Tottenham are in the mix to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who is attracting interest from a number of clubs.
The Evening Standard reports today how Spurs think they could be in with a shout of signing Chalobah from the Blues, who is said to have reservations about how much playing time he’ll get at Stamford Bridge. Chalobah’s concerns come amid reports Chelsea are edging closer to signing Wesley Fofana from Chelsea for around £80m.
It’s claimed in the Standard that Chalobah will consider either a permanent or loan move away from the Blues in order to get that game time. Of course, Tottenham would still be a tricky nut to crack, given Antonio Conte has his regular back three of Dier, Romero and Davies, and Davinson Sanchez stepped in to fine effect today as well.

Chalobah made a huge impression for Chelsea last season as he scored a number of eye-catching goals. Indeed, he was labelled as being a ‘fantastic‘ talent by Thomas Tuchel after he rifled one in on his debut.
Naturally, Chelsea would be wary of selling to a local rival, as well as a top four rival. But with Fofana now nearly through the door, Chalobah might well force the issue.
TBR’s View: Chalobah Would Thrive At Tottenham
It would be some signing by Tottenham if they managed to pinch someone like Chalobah off of Chelsea. It would send a huge statement to the rest of the league and show that they are an attractive proposition for players now.
Chelsea won’t want to entertain the bid though you feel. However, purely from a Spurs perspective, you’d have to say Chalobah might be able to thrive under Antonio Conte.
As it stands, this seems an unlikely transfer. But Tottenham have been active this summer, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see them pull it off either.
