Tottenham really missed out on the Premier League’s deadliest player so far this season

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a brilliant summer transfer window, but they will surely regret missing out on one of their top targets, who is now flying in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank signed five new players for Spurs over the summer, with Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Randal Kolo Muani and Kota Takai arriving at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham Hotspur have made a great start to the season with four wins from five across all competitions under their new manager.

But despite their impressive results, Spurs could well be left rueing their failure to land one of their top summer targets.

Antoine Semenyo has the most Premier League goal involvements this season

Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo currently has the most Premier League goal involvements this season.

The Ghanaian international started the season with a bang as he netted a brace away at Anfield in what proved to be an unfortunate defeat for Bournemouth.

After four matches, Semenyo is currently sitting on three goals and two assists in 360 minutes, which means he’s producing a goal involvement every 72 minutes.

The 25-year-old also scored in their recent win over Brighton, which has seen Andoni Iraola’s side make a flying start to the new campaign.

Despite losing several key players, Bournemouth find themselves on nine points after four games and fourth in the table.

Semenyo was also part of the Bournemouth team which defeated Spurs last month, with Evanlison scoring the only goal of the game.

Tottenham missed out on Antoine Semenyo over the summer

TBR Football understands that Tottenham wanted Semenyo over the summer, however, they were unwilling to pay over £60 million to get him.

The North London club refused to pay a similar price to the club record fee they paid the Cherries the summer prior for Dominic Solanke.

The South Coast club were already expecting to lose Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen, so they refused to let the forward go for cheap.

Semenyo signed a new contract with Bournemouth instead, with a move being delayed for at least another summer.

Towards the end of the window, Tottenham tried to sign Semenyo again, but Bournemouth laughed off the North London club’s approach.
