Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick, has said that Anthony Martial can leave the club if he likes but he must speak to him, and not send his agent to do so on his behalf.
Martial has slipped well down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has found game-time increasingly difficult to come by at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has never quite kicked on and hit his potential, after United forked out over £58m in total for the then-teenager.

This week, Martial’s agent told Sky Sports how his client ‘wanted to leave’ in January. However, new United boss Rangnick has said that if the striker wants out, then he needs to go about it differently.
“The player hasn’t spoken with me or us about it. To be honest, what his agent says via the media is not of that much interest to me. If he really has the wish to go to another club it should be the player who informs either the board or myself. I have never spoken about a player via the media and via agents,” the United boss said. Reports at the back end of the summer had claimed that Tottenham were keen on Martial. At that point, it was suggested that United would take around £40m for the French striker.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Can Do Better Than Martial Now
While everyone knows there is a player in there with Martial, the fact is that he hasn’t done enough to suggest he’d fit in under Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
At the time, Nuno Santo might have liked him. And sure enough, the Frenchman brings pace and good finishing to the table when he’s on it. But that is the issue. Martial is rarely ‘on it’.
Time has moved forward and while Rangnick will clearly let Martial go if he makes his feelings known to his new boss, it’s unlikely to see Tottenham involved here.
