Tottenham predicted XI vs Marine: Fagan-Walcott and Alfie Devine start

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed arguably the most exciting tie of the FA Cup third round, with Jose Mourinho tasked with taking his side to eighth tier Marine in January.

There is more than a month to go before the two sides meet. But – perhaps ambitiously – TBR has had a go at predicting what Mourinho’s lineup may look like for the game.

The first thing to note is that Mourinho tends to take every competition seriously. So it should be no surprise if he picks a number of first-team players for the tie.

However, it should provide an opportunity to rest the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris.

The lineup may therefore, resemble something more like the teams Mourinho has tended to pick in the Europa League.

Regulars in that competition such as Harry Winks, Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius may end up starting. Dele Alli may also feature having fallen out of favour in the Premier League.

The most questionable selection in this lineup comes at centre-back. Malachi Fagan-Walcott has played no part in this season having been sidelined with injury.

However, having been named in Spurs’ Europa League squad (via UEFA), there may be reason to believe that the 18-year-old could return at some stage in the future. And perhaps, he may get the chance to make his second senior appearance for Tottenham.

Elsewhere, it may be a good opportunity for Jack Clarke to build on the chances he has had in Europe this season. The £10 million youngster is still awaiting his first start for the club (fee reported by BBC Sport).

Debut for Devine?

And finally, there may perhaps be a debut for Alfie Devine. The 16-year-old has been hugely impressive in the Under-18 Premier League and Premier League 2 since his summer arrival.

Mourinho has shown with Dane Scarlett that he is prepared to hand players of Devine’s age a debut if they are ready. And Devine is impressing too often to be ignored.

With that in mind, here is a tentative attempt to predicting how Spurs may lineup when they face Marine…
