Tottenham predicted XI to play Liverpool: Toby Alderweireld returns

Tottenham face Liverpool tonight knowing that three points could lift them above the champions in the Premier League.

Spurs are unbeaten in eight matches and look to be on the right track under boss Jose Mourinho.

The summer transfer business was superb and the challenge for Tottenham will be to reach the top-four.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, we looked at the team Mourinho could pick.

In goal and back four

Hugo Lloris will return between the posts after Joe Hart got a run out in the FA Cup clash with Wycombe.

Sergio Reguilon is out for three weeks, so Ben Davies should come in at left-back.

At centre-back, there could be a change, with Toby Alderweireld starting at the expense of Davinson Sanchez.

The defender wasn’t in fine form against the Championship side on Monday and that could see the £80,000-a-week Belgian recalled.

Eric Dier will take the other place at the heart of the back four, with Serge Aurier starting at right-back.

Midfield

Moussa Sissoko is likely to get the nod to start tonight’s game alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The pair have struck up a decent partnership and could be key to victory in tonight’s game.

Hojbjerg, in particular, has been a tremendous piece of business since signing from Southampton in the summer.

In attack

Tanguy Ndombele has been in fine form this season and he should take up the No.10 role this evening.

Steven Bergwijn is still striving for a consistent run of form and he should get another chance to start on the right-hand side tonight.

That leaves Son Heung-min to drift in from the left flank, with the incredible Harry Kane to play up top.

Son and Kane are arguably the most in-form partnership in world football right now and in tandem, they’ll hope to plot Liverpool’s downfall.

Here is how Tottenham’s team could look tonight:
