Tottenham players react as Thorpe confirms exit with touching Instagram post
Elliot Thorpe has posted a heartfelt message to Tottenham on Instagram after it was confirmed he had left the club – and plenty have reacted.
Thorpe, 20, leaves Tottenham after eight years having joined the club’s academy at just 12 years of age – from Cambridge United in July 2013.
Since then, he has broken into the club’s Under-23 side, playing on a regular basis for Tottenham’s second string. In 21 outings, he scored three goals.
Not only that, but Thorpe has represented Wales Under-19’s on six occasions and has even been called up to the Under-21 outfit.
However, he never managed to make his debut for the North London club at senior level. Now, he has confirmed his exit with a post on Instagram.
Thorpe leaves Tottenham: Players react, where next for talent?
So, it is an end of an era for attacking midfielder Thorpe. The midfielder leaves Spurs largely down to failing to get any senior football.
Instead of going on loan here and there, Thorpe has decided to leave permanently. He could be joining an ambitious Championship side.
Wales Online say Thorpe is about to join Luton Town, with the Hatters winning the race to get him over Cardiff and Bristol City.
Earlier in the summer, the report even says Leicester, Burnley and Brentford wanted to sign Thorpe – but a move fell through.
Plenty responded to Thorpe and his post on Instagram – including the likes of Alfie Devine, Dane Scarlett, Troy Parrott and Nile John.
