It’s certainly a strange old time to be involved with Tottenham at the moment. From the highs of beating Manchester City away to the lows of losing 1-0 to Burnley, it’s certainly not dull following Antonio Conte and his team.
Once again, it’s been a week of confusion for Tottenham fans. The loss at Burnley saw Conte come out with a bizarre an targeted rant which included himself, players, and the club in general. It’s left some at Tottenham concerned about the future of Conte already.
Of course, Daniel Levy won’t shirk the conversation or face to face confrontations that might come his way from the Italian manager. But what about the Spurs squad? Well, according to The Athletic, while most back Conte and love his management, there is also some confusion.

The Athletic claims that a source inside the Spurs dressing room suggests players are not being helped by Conte’s constant change of tone and attitude. One week they are the best squad he’s worked with. The next, there is a feeling the new boss wants a completely fresh squad.
This confusion could be breeding into their performances. While there is also a comment in the report that Conte’s passion is, at times, leading to conflicted messages in training too.
TBR’s View: Conte Needs To Take Some Responsibility
While we could write swathes of text on how Tottenham’s players need to step up, the fact is that Conte has inherited this squad and needs to get the best from it.
It’s his job to ensure his team is set up right, motivated, and has a clear way of playing. At the moment, things seem a bit messy but that’s the manager’s job to sort out at the end of the day.
Conte has a point in some of his comments. But these rants can become tiresome and he also risks losing the squad if he carries on as well. Certainly, he’s treading a fine line at times.
