Tottenham player ratings vs Reading, Mikey Moore and Luka Vuskovic shine in front of Thomas Frank

The Thomas Frank era at Tottenham Hotspur starts with a win.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Reading 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium as the new Danish head coach starts life in North London with a win.

Goals from Will Lankshear and Luka Vuskovic in the second half in Berkshire proved enough to get the win for the Lilywhites.

Thomas Frank will have been pleased with his team’s display against the League One side, with the next game against Luton Town next weekend.

Antonin Kinsky – 6

Antonin Kinsky was given the first half between the sticks and impressed with how comfortable he was in possession. The 22-year-old completed 15 of his 18 passes

The young Czech Republic shot-stopper had a few shaky moments when it came to collecting set-pieces, with one moment in particular catching him out.

Pedro Porro – 7

Pedro Porro impressed down the right side for Spurs and was deployed in an interesting role as almost a right-sided centre-back in a back three when Spurs were building out from the back.

The Spaniard still managed to get forward on several occasions and produced some impressive deliveries into the box.

Kevin Danso – 6

Kevin Danso was impressive during Spurs’ build-up play and certainly looks very comfortable in possession, completing 45 out of 49 passes.

The Australian defender finished the season strong with Tottenham last term and could make a push to start under Frank.

Cristian Romero – 7

Cristian Romero, who’s been linked to Atlético Madrid, looked sharp as ever at the back and like with Kinsky and Danso, he was important in the build-up play.

Destiny Udogie – 8

Destiny Udogie was the more advanced of the two full-backs, and the Italian got into some threatening areas on several occasions.

The 23-year-old showed both sides of his game, winning two out of his two duels, whilst managing to make two key passes against the Royals.

Pape Matar Sarr – 6

Pape Matar Sarr had a quiet afternoon against Reading but put in a real shift against the Royals with plenty of running in the middle of the park.

Alfie Devine – 7

Alfie Devine might have just caught the eye of Frank with his strong display in the number ten role during the first 45 minutes.

The 22-year-old pressed well from the front and was constantly looking to make things happen for Spurs.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7

Rodrigo Bentancur was used in the number six role and may well have given Frank some food for thought about the need for another midfielder.

If the Uruguayan can get back to his best, he is more than strong enough to be starting week in, week out for the North London club.

Mikey Moore – 8

Mikey Moore was possibly Tottenham’s best player in the first 45 minutes with some driving runs at the heart of the Reading defence.

Moore struggled with illness last season, and will be hoping to impress the new Spurs boss, and his display against Reading will have caught the Dane’s eye.

Brennan Johnson – 6

Brennan Johnson was hailed by the travelling support at the Madejski; however, his performance looked somewhat off the pace.

The Welsh international lost possession on seven occasions against Reading.

Dominic Solanke – 5

Dominic Solanke had a tough afternoon in his hometown as he struggled to make things work against the League One side.

The England international missed one big chance

Guglielmo Vicario – 7

Djed Spence – 6

Ben Davies – 7

Luka Vuskovic – 8

What a way to mark your first appearance for your new club, as Vuskovic scored and assisted for Tottenham in Berkshire.

Vuskovic, who Tottenham consider a ‘top talent’, continued his impressive goal-scoring record from last season with a cultured finish to score the Lilywhites’ second. He also set up Will Lankshear with an impressive header from the corner.

Micky van de Ven – 6

Jamie Donley – 6

Lucas Bergvall – 6

Yves Bissouma – 5

Mohammed Kudus – 6

Mohammed Kudus looked lively on his debut for Tottenham, with his pace particularly impressive.

The Ghanaian was tasked with taking the corners for Frank’s side in the second half, which resulted in the opening goal.

Son Heung-min – 5

Son Heung-min looked quite rusty against the Royals with several poor touches and moments in which he overran the ball.

TBR Football understands Tottenham will sell Son this summer for the right offer, and his display against Reading perhaps showed why.

Will Lankshear – 7

Lankshear scored again during a pre-season match for Tottenham, having done so last year under Ange Postecoglou.

The striker will help to impress Frank, but at this stage, a loan looks likely for the young striker.
