Champions League finalists Tottenham are considering launching an audacious swoop on Juventus for star striker Paulo Dybala, according to Football London.

The 25-year-old is one of the most feared marksmen in European football and the report suggests that Tottenham have already contacted the Italian champions.

Mauricio Pochettino has added Tanguy Ndombele to his ranks so far during the transfer window, although he will definitely hope for more new recruits.

Dybala has been at Juventus since arriving from Palermo in 2015. In 182 appearances for the Old Lady, he has scored 78 goals and registered 30 assists.

The Argentina international plays the vast majority of his football as a striker, although he can operate out wide, or as a number 10.

The prospect of him linking up with Harry Kane is mouthwatering for Tottenham supporters.

Dybala won’t come cheap, however, with Juventus valuing one of their best players at £80 million. The player also earns £104,000-a-week at Juventus, according to Spotrac.

The report does also suggest that Tottenham would be considered outsiders for his signature. Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG are also likely to be keen should he become available.

TBR Verdict

If Spurs go and land Dybala it would send a clear message out to the rest of the Premier League that they are not in the mood to mess about.

Having already smashed the club’s transfer record once with the Ndombele signing, persuing Dybala could see them do it for the second time this window.

Moving for the Argentine might seem ambitious but perhaps indicates a sign of how far Spurs have come in recent years.

Pochettino will keen to ensure that last season’s run to the Champions League final is just the start and players like Dybala will only enhance the club’s chances of winning trophies.

The money does sound a lot. The 25-year-old is world-class, however, and has lots of football left to play during his career.

The prospect of a partnership with Kane is a devastating thought for Premier League defences and this is a deal that the club would love to get over the line.
