Tottenham on-loan gem now has 4 goals and 1 assist in last 4 games, his boss says he's so 'ruthless'
Tottenham Hotspur boast one of the most fearsome front lines in English football at present.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are world-class attackers, and Dejan Kulusevski has been superb since joining.
This week, Richarlison took his chance with a superb brace in the Champions League.
And 94 miles down the road, there is another Tottenham attacking talent impressing on loan.
Over the last few years, Dane Scarlett has made a name for himself as one of Tottenham’s best young players.
The 18-year-old has a goal a game at Under-18 level and four in 14 for the Under-23s (now Under-21s).
Scarlett has also made 10 appearances for Tottenham’s senior team, registering one assist.
In July, the Spurs prodigy moved to Portsmouth on a season-long loan.
Though it took Scarlett a few games to find his feet, he now has four goals and an assist in his last four games.
And all four goals came in his last three outings for Pompey.
Scarlett scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Port Vale in League One on 27 August.
Three days later, he netted in the EFL Trophy penalty-shootout loss to Crawley.
And on 3 September, he bagged both of his side’s goals in a 2-1 league win over Peterborough.
“He is so sharp”
Danny Cowley loved what he saw from Scarlett after their last match.
“He’s ruthless and I’ve seen him score those headed goals before,” he told the club website.
“So I’ve been moaning about when they were going to come for us!
“He is so sharp with his movement and so brave.
“He’ll flash across the front and put his head where other people don’t want to.”
For an 18-year-old to have already made 10 senior appearances is quite a feat.
But Scarlett is still far from the finished product and has an incredibly high ceiling.
Tottenham fans will no doubt be keeping tabs on how he continues to develop at Pompey.
And over the coming years, it’ll be exciting to see how he develops as a player at N17.
