Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly the favourites to sign Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson this summer.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, with the outlet claiming that Brentford also remain interested in the Forest forward.

Spurs are facing a crucial week ahead as they bid to determine the future of their star man Harry Kane.

Indeed, The Evening Standard reports that Kane is likely to stay at Tottenham if a deal isn’t agreed with Bayern Munich before the Premier League season gets underway this weekend.

But Spurs are exploring their options in the event that Kane does depart for Germany and Brennan Johnson is a target for the club.

Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor claims that Johnson is a genuine target for Postecoglou. Now, it seems that Spurs are the favourites to land the Wales international this summer.

Tottenham favourites to sign Johnson

The Mail reports that Brentford remain in contention to sign Johnson this summer, but Spurs are considered the favourites.

Johnson enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in the Premier League last season as he helped keep Steve Cooper’s men in the division.

The 22-year-old netted eight times and provided three assists last time out as he featured in every single Premier League game for Forest.

He’s reportedly valued at around £50 million, with Brentford already having a £35 million bid knocked back by Forest.

Johnson has been labelled a ‘magnificent’ talent and would provide Postecoglou with a different type of option out wide.

Indeed, the youngster possesses brilliant pace and excels in 1v1 situations, meaning he could provide stern competition for Dejan Kulusevski off the right-hand side.

Of course, much will depend on Kane’s future as Spurs are unlikely to spend big on another forward if he remains in North London.

But Johnson would be an intriguing option for Spurs and if he’s available at the right price, he could provide Postecoglou with another brilliant attacking option.
