Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided they have no interest in loaning out Giovani Lo Celso in January.

Giovani Lo Celso has been attracting interest from Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.

Xavi has asked the La Liga giants to snap up Lo Celso as he searches for midfield reinforcements.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a run in the Tottenham side of late, despite missing out on the starting XI against Newcastle on Sunday.

Indeed, the Argentine has netted two goals in his last three starts for Spurs, proving he can help to fill the void left by the injured James Maddison.

His future in North London remains unclear as his deal has just over 18 months left to run.

But The Sun reports that Tottenham have no intention of allowing him to leave in January amid fears over a lack of depth in midfield at the moment.

Tottenham won’t be loaning Lo Celso out amid Barcelona interest

The Sun claims that Tottenham have ‘no interest’ in sanctioning a sale or loan deal for Lo Celso in January.

It’s noted that Xavi is eyeing a move for the Argentine following a long-term injury to Gavi. But Spurs would only be tempted to sell if they received an offer too good to turn down.

While Lo Celso is yet to establish himself as a regular starter under Postecoglou, it would make little sense to loan him out in January.

Tottenham are set to lose Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma for a spell that month as the duo head off to AFCON.

James Maddison is also ruled out until the new year, with a specific return date yet to be confirmed.

Spurs will be relying on Lo Celso over the coming weeks and the ‘incredible’ midfielder has shown signs of promise this term. The £27 million man impressed in pre-season and has enjoyed a decent spell of late.
