Tottenham need to battle Arsenal and Ancelotti in the £20m race for Anguissa - TBR View
Arsenal are reportedly battling Aston Villa and Everton in the race to sign Fulham midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa this summer following Fulham’s relegation – but surely Tottenham need a bit of steel in midfield, as Scott Parker remains linked.
Anguissa, 25, has been one of Fulham’s shining lights this season as the Cottagers suffered relegation from the Premier League to the Championship – with Parker failing to keep Fulham afloat. A number of Fulham players are likely to leave the club.
Along with Anguissa, Joachim Andersen, Alphonse Areola and Ademola Lookman all have a chance of being in the top tier next term. The Mail claim Anguissa is a target for Arsenal, Everton and Villa this summer – and he is worth £20million.
Meanwhile, Tottenham need a midfielder. Alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Spurs have lacked a permanent midfield partner for the Dane. Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Gio Lo Celso have all been used in the role this term.
But Spurs need a midfielder like Mousa Dembele. A powerhouse, strong as an ox that can keep the ball under any kind of pressure. One that has an excellent array of passing, but one that can also start attacks – and offer a defensive shield.
Dembele did all of that at Tottenham but since he moved to China in January 2019, they have failed to replace him. Anguissa would be the closest Spurs could get to replacing the Belgian veteran, something they clearly need in central midfield.
Ask any Tottenham player of that era, they all say that Dembele was the best player they played with. Spurs signed Dembele from Fulham and now they need to go back to the West London club and sign another midfield powerhouse – in Anguissa.
