Tottenham need a response from Dele Alli against Bayern Munich

Tottenham host Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in a Champions League group stage fixture and it’s a colossal game for certain individuals.

Spurs eased some pressure off themselves by beating Southampton at the weekend in the Premier League, but it’s still been a rocky start to the campaign and they could do with a couple more positive results before the international break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side drew 2-2 away to Olympiacos in their opening Champions League group match and it’s important they try win their home games.

The North London club are coming up against German heavyweights Bayern, who are in brilliant goalscoring form.

It will be an intriguing night for several Spurs players, including their playmaker Dele Alli.

Alli missed the early stages of the season through injury, but is yet to make a serious impression since he returned.

The England international was overlooked by Pochettino at the weekend against Southampton, as he was left on the bench and not one of the three substitutes used.

He’s yet to register a goal or assist in his three appearances so far this season across all competitions and looks miles off the pace.

The attacking midfielder has shown in recent years he can be a talisman in Pochettino’s team when on his A-game and it may take a huge European night against Bayern to spark him into life.

There is real competition for places in the squad and Alli needs to make the most of any opportunity he gets on Tuesday night, or he could face spells on the bench far more frequently.
