Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a pretty successful 2018/19 campaign and it could yet finish with Mauricio Pochettino’s men crowned as Champions of Europe.
Spurs have defeated Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax to reach the final of the Champions League where they will face Liverpool.
Once the final is out of the way, attention will quickly turn towards next year. Having not signed a player since January 2018, it looks like being a busy summer for Pochettino.
Spurs were 27 points adrift of champions Manchester City this season and if they are to become genuine title contenders reinforcements will be needed.
Nabil Fekir has been linked with a summer move to Spurs, according to Le Parisien, and he is exactly the sort of player that Pochettino should be identifying for his squad.
The man who claimed a World Cup winners’ medal with France last summer has been in good form again during 2018/19. He netted 12 goals and claimed nine assists during the season.
At 25-years-old, Fekir would represent a sound replacement for Christian Eriksen should he complete a switch to Real Madrid.
A natural in the number ten role, the Lyon captain has 54 goals and 34 assists to his name for the French giants. His physical presence in the final third and his ability to make something out of nothing are two massive attributes to his game.
The next level
A £53 million (Metro) move to Liverpool broke down last summer but this could be the year when he finally gets his move to the Premier League.
Having not signed a player for two transfer windows, Pochettino needs to make a serious statement this summer. Unknown quantities just won’t do for the Spurs supporters and stellar signings are a must.
Fekir might not have kicked a ball in the Premier League yet, but there is enough evidence to suggest that he has the quality to push Spurs towards the next level.
