Tottenham must rival Real Betis for Cedric Bakambu to replace Fernando Llorente
Tottenham should spark into action to rival Spanish outfit Real Betis as newspaper AS say that the La Liga team are interested in Cedric Bakambu, who joined Beijing Guoan for £35.4 million earlier this year.
In October, French newspaper L’Est Republicain said that Tottenham were interested in the striker, who was already hinting that he could leave Asia at the end of the campaign.
Having scored 23 goals in 28 games in China, adding to 14 goals in 21 games in 2017/18 at Villarreal, Bakambu clearly knows where the back of the net is and could provide real value from the bench as Fernando Llorente looks increasingly likely to depart.
The veteran forward has made it clear that he wants to leave London, according to the Evening Standard, and Mauricio Pochettino may instead look for another option to bring goals and ease the pressure on Harry Kane.
Bakambu may not come cheap given how much he cost the Chinese side only a year ago, but he has brought success and may now be keen to show what he can do in Europe again as he remains at the peak of his career.
The Congolese international is powerful and strong in the air and would fit in well within Tottenham’s style of play, perhaps offering an ideal option for Pochettino.
