A pursuit for Josh Maja may have become more simple as he looks to leave League One club Sunderland, but Tottenham may still have their work cut out to seal a deal for the 20-year-old.
The Mirror claimed that Tottenham were interested in the forward in November and that interest may have been fueled as Black Cats’ owner Stewart Donald tweeted to publicly reveal that he had turned down a contract extension.
With 15 goals in 28 games, it is easy to see why a bunch of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town, according to The Guardian, have picked up an interest.

Tottenham must ensure that they move quickly to seal any potential deal, particularly as the report suggests that there is interest from Germany, where clubs can already enter into talks over a free transfer in the summer without agreeing a fee.
Daniel Levy should learn from the failed pursuit of Jack Grealish in the summer after the talks were prolonged for so long that the deal never came about, leading to the midfielder signing a new deal at Aston Villa after the transfer window shut.
Acting quickly and clinically will be crucial if Tottenham are to pull off a deal for the promising Londoner, who has clearly shown that he could be a real hit should he join Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
