According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Hartlepool United starlet Luca Murphy.
Tottenham and Manchester United have joined the hunt for Murphy, who has already attracted attention from Fulham, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Murphy is yet to make his debut for non-league side Hartlepool but he is highly rated by the club.
The 17-year-old has already made the first-team bench for the National League team and is tipped for a bright future.
But this TEAMtalk article claims that Fulham have agreed terms with Hartlepool for Murphy and just need to thrash out personal terms with the player.
This means that Spurs need to act quickly if they want to land Murphy and add to their future central defensive options.
With Murphy, Juan Foyth, Davinson Sanchez and Timothy Eyoma, the future of Spurs at centre-back would look secure.
Murphy is a talented young defender, described by Hartlepool’s official website as “able to play with either foot, he’s athletic, confident and rarely fazed”.
Judging by this description, a move to Tottenham would suit the talented teenager’s style of play.
And Murphy would surely be enthused by the opportunity to join a high-aspiring team with the prospect of playing under Pochettino in the future.
But Fulham appear to be close to finalising this deal so Spurs must step up their chase if they are serious about landing this non-league starlet.
The young Englishman could be the future for Tottenham’s defence and they must act quickly to avoid missing out.
