Tottenham Hotspur have announced on their official website that midfielder Moussa Sissoko has penned a new contract with the club.

He will now remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until 2023 after extending his current deal.

The French midfielder has kicked-on in the last 12 months after a difficult start to life in North London.

Since arriving in 2016 he has made 132 appearances, scoring two goals.

Last season he was named the first-ever winner of the Spurs Legends’ Player of the Season, helping Tottenham to the Champions League Final.

Sissoko has 59 caps for the France national team and although he didn’t feature in their recent World Cup victory, he was in the squad that lost in the Euro 2016 Final to Portugal.

Tottenham fans have taken to social media on the back of this afternoon’s announcement and it’s fair to say the vast majority are delighted.

It’s been a remarkable turnaround for Sissoko with some fans citing the player as a waste of money following his £30 million arrival from Newcastle (BBC Sport).

The 30-year-old has played every game for Spurs this season and fans will hope he continues in such good form.
