Tottenham fans are well aware of the talent that midfielder Harry Winks has and he’s one of the latest off the academy production line to make the step up to the first team in recent years.

The 23-year-old is a key part of the Spurs team when he’s on form and excels as a deep-lying playmaker.

He missed the last couple months of the season with a groin injury, but was passed fit enough to play in the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.

The central midfielder was left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Nations League tournament and he’s coming out of it looking quite good without kicking a ball.

England lost in the semi-finals of the Nations League against Holland after extra-time and there were difficulties in the centre of the park.

Declan Rice, Fabian Delph and Ross Barkley started in a three-man midfield for Southgate’s team, but they struggled against the Dutch to keep the ball and weren’t quite efficient enough.

Winks has surely seen his reputation soar after the semi-final, as when he’s fully fit he should be in the England side to help dictate play.

He’s a pass master that is capable of taking the ball in tight scenarios and recycling possession, which fits with the brave style the manager wants to enforcer.

The £30,000-a-week ace (Spotrac) may finally start getting the recognition he deserves outside of Spurs.
