Tottenham Hotspur may have to win a trophy this season if they are to win the race to sign the coveted Tanguy Ndombele.
It has been reported by The Sun that both Manchester City and Manchester United will go head to head over the Frenchman this summer.

Pep Guardiola supposedly views Ndombele as a potential successor to Fernandinho and could bid £70 million for the dynamo in an attempt to beat rivals United to him.
Juventus have also been credited with interest, although their signing of Aaron Ramsey ahead of next season may now cast doubt on them being genuine contenders.
Tottenham need a huge lure
With the Manchester clubs set to do battle over Ndombele, it’s going to be difficult for other clubs to steal in.
Spurs have also been linked with a move for Ndombele (Sky Sports, June 2018), but may find it hard to lure a player who is clearly highly coveted.

That said, if Tottenham can deliver a trophy against the odds this season, then it would strengthen their hand massively.
There is still an outside chance of winning the Premier League, and perhaps the showing against Borussia Dortmund can give them the belief to do well in the Champions League.

It’s the one thing that arguably places Tottenham below the Manchester clubs in terms of being a proposition for players.
Spurs need him as a replacement for Mousa Dembele who left in January. They’ll be moving into the new stadium soon and have a great manager in Mauricio Pochettino. Perhaps all that’s needed as a lure is that elusive evidence of silverware.
