Report: Tottenham looking at four new additions this summer

Tottenham were defeated 2-0 by Liverpool in the Champions League Final on Saturday to end their 2018/19 campaign in disappointing style.

Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders to get Spurs to such a showpiece final; considering the club hasn’t signed a single player for two transfer windows.

The good news for the club’s supporters, however, is that the impressive boss is set to be backed by Daniel Levy in this summer’s transfer market.

According to The Mirror, four new players will be targeted to bolster Pochettino’s ranks, as the club looks to avoid this season being a flash in the pan.

The club has already had bids rejected for Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Celta Vigo talisman Maxi Gomez remain summer targets too.

Pochettino told The Mirror that the club’s financial priorities have been elsewhere in recent years.

He said: “We are a team that has priorities that is shared with the stadium. We looked at the quality of our players in the final but it would have been incredible to win and lift the trophy.

“It would have surprised people because in the last five years Tottenham prioritised their stadium and spent zero on transfers. We’re not the smartest in the class, but we’re not the stupidest either. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a successful period for the club.”

TBR Verdict

This news will delight the club’s supporters, but it will also be a massive bonus to Pochettino.

The Argentine quit Southampton in 2014 after failing to receive assurances over keeping their best players and strengthening. Levy must avoid upsetting the Spurs boss in the same manner.

Pochettino is one of Europe’s most progressing managers and he is a massive asset to the football club.

Even if Spurs do lose some of their players this summer, with a few additions there is no reason why the club can’t kick on and continue to overachieve next season.
