Tottenham making move for £80m star may depend on one decision this summer

Tottenham Hotspur making a move for Pedro Neto in the summer transfer window may depend on one key decision the club makes over the next few months.

Pedro Neto looks set to be at the centre of one of the most hotly contested transfer races this coming summer. The Wolves star has been absolutely outstanding for Gary O’Neil’s side.

Only Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins have provided more assists than the Portuguese so far this season. Unsurprisingly, he is not going to come cheap.

Tottenham making move for Pedro Neto may depend on Timo Werner

Wolves want around £80 million for Neto. Arsenal are long-time admirers of Neto. But they are not the only side in the running for the winger.

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are also keen on the youngster. Their report suggests that Wolves will be looking for at least £60 million – a fee which would represent a club record at Molineux.

However, the Evening Standard adds that Spurs making a move for Neto could depend on whether they decide to take up the option to sign Timo Werner permanently.

Choice looks a simple one

Werner is on loan in North London. And his deal comes with the option to make his move permanent for £15 million.

Obviously, the Germany international would be significantly cheaper than Neto. But if they have a significant budget to spend this summer, you would imagine that more Tottenham fans would opt for a move for the Wolves star.

Werner is yet to set the world alight since his arrival. Meanwhile, Neto is a good few years younger. He has been labelled a ‘special’ talent.

There is a question mark over whether he can stave off injuries, having had a couple of lengthy lay-offs in the last few years. But if Spurs are confident about his fitness, he could be an amazing signing.

On current evidence, opponents will arguably be much more concerned about facing a Tottenham side which includes Neto rather than Werner.
