Tottenham Hotspur will be without midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for a while. Lo Celso has picked up a hip injury during the international break and it will rule him out until late October, the club’s official website has announced.
Lo Celso has been with Argentina and he played in their friendly match against Chile last week. But ahead of their friendly clash with Mexico, Lo Celso has been ruled out. He has picked up a hip injury and he returned to Spurs for rehabilitation.

The 23-year-old only joined Tottenham on deadline day and he is yet to start in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino, who reportedly called him ‘incredible’ (Standard), has been slowly introducing him to the English game. But his plans to get Lo Celso up to speed will be foiled by this injury setback.
TBR’s view
This is bad news for Pochettino because Lo Celso is his long-term Christian Eriksen replacement. He has been gradually working Lo Celso into his plans and this injury is an unwanted setback.
With Eriksen’s future in doubt, Spurs need Lo Celso to hit top form sooner rather than later. This injury puts a block on his ability to make an impact for Tottenham. If Eriksen leaves in January, Lo Celso needs to make a quick recovery from this injury and nail down his starting spot from late October onwards.
