Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu has told Turkish Football that Ugurcan Cakir is one of the three best goalkeepers in European football.
The chief is hoping to receive up to £25 million for the stopper with Premier League trio Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham reportedly keen (Fanatik).
All three have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old this season and summer bids are likely to be forthcoming.
Cakir has already played twice for the Turkey national team and during 2019/20 he has played 30 times for Trabzonspor.
Liverpool don’t really need a goalkeeper. Alisson Becker is the club’s number one and if he headed for Anfield he would definitely be back-up.
Both Everton and Tottenham are perhaps in greater need of goalkeeping reinforcements.
Jordan Pickford has looked shaky at times this season and Carlo Ancelotti might feel the need to replace him next season, or at least apply some pressure.
At 33, Hugo Lloris won’t be at Tottenham forever and Cakir is a certain improvement on Paulo Gazzaniga.
The Trabzonspor president is in no doubt of Cakir’s quality and made some serious claims.
He told Turkish Football: “Our transfer budget will be determined by who is sold at the end of the season.
“In my opinion, Ugurcan Cakir is one of the three best goalkeepers in Europe and a huge prospect in Turkish football.
“We want £17-21 million for him but it could be up to £25 million. Of course, we hope he stays.”
It seems likely that whoever makes the biggest bid will win the race for the Turkish sensation.
Cakir has only kept four clean sheets this season, which is odd considering his team currently sit top of the league in Turkey.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton might all see the youngster as one worth investing in for the future.
It remains to be seen whether he does switch to the Premier League, and also whether he can live up to Agaoglu’s ambitious top three claims.
