Tottenham Hotspur’s hunt for a right-back this summer has seen them linked with a move for the Lille defender Mehmet Zeki Celik.
BuzzSport claimed last month that Spurs are considering a £25 million move for the player. It certainly made sense. Not only do Tottenham need a new right-back, but Celik will be well known to the members of the Spurs backroom staff who previously worked with him at the French club.

Celik has now been talking about his future to the press in Turkey. Speaking to DHA, as reported by Haberler, admits he is aware of the interest from other clubs. However, Celik also makes it clear that he is happy at Lille for the time being.
“I have a 4-year contract with my club. It is also said that there are suitors for the transfer, but I do not know. My manager and my club are discussing these issues. I am preparing for the new season and I am happy in my club.”
Of course, Tottenham are in desperate need of right-back reinforcements, and Celik would be a top recruit.
However, considering that previous price-tag, Tottenham are unlikely to make a move for the player in the current market.
Spurs are set to look for swap deals and free transfers in the next transfer window. Thomas Meunier, who is out of contract at PSG this summer, seems a far more likely target whilst even the likes of Max Aarons and Youcef Atal appear to be more regular names linked with Spurs.
Celik also seems happy at Lille so, perhaps, the Turkish defender is not a likely Tottenham recruit this summer.
