Tottenham-linked manager previous called loanee Oliver Skipp “fantastic”
Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp may feel he’s got a chance of a first-team breakthrough next season if the club appoint reported target Mauricio Pochettino.
The Athletic claims that Spurs have made an approach by starting discussions with 49-year-old manager Pochettino about a possible deal to make him their new boss.
It is understood that the north London club are plotting to take him away from his current employers Paris Saint-Germain, where he’s still under contract for another year as their manager.
The report says Pochettino is “attracted’ to the idea of returning to a club he managed for five-and-a-half years.
Oliver Skipp should hope for Mauricio Pochettino return
If Pochettino makes a remarkable return, he’ll be familiar with a large portion of the squad.
One rising star that fans are excited to see going into the 2021/22 campaign is Oliver Skipp.
The 20-year-old Spurs loanee spent this season with Championship club Norwich City, who he helped storm to promotion with a league title.
He’s a highly rated defensive midfielder that most expect to feature in the main Spurs group moving forward.
Pochettino was the man who gave Spurs his senior football debut and is clearly an admirer of his. He described him as “fantastic” for an FA Cup display against Tranmere Rovers in January 2019.
Spurs fans will expect a new nucleus to appear if Pochettino arrives, and talented midfielder Skipp could be part of it.
