Tottenham linked with 'unplayable' £46,000-a-week star, fans should be buzzing - TBR View
Tottenham have been linked with a surprise move for Wolves ace Adama Traore (Telegraph). It has been met with some mixed feelings by Spurs supporters, although he could thrive at Tottenham and fans should be happy.
The speed demon of a forward arrived at Molineux in 2018. It’s fair to say that during his time at Wolves, his statistics haven’t exactly been the best.
In 134 games for the club, he has scored 10 goals and registered 18 assists and those numbers are perhaps reason for Tottenham fans to be sceptical.
They shouldn’t be though. Traore has played a large number of his games with Wolves from the bench, he’s also played a lot of games as a right wing-back under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Why should Tottenham fans be excited over the Traore link?
When Raul Jimenez was bang in form for Wolves, Traore thrived. He was energetic, looked confident and perhaps crucially, registered nine assists.
That suggests that playing in a position that is more advanced and alongside better players would only benefit the Spaniard.
At 25, time is firmly on his side. There is more to come from the player who boasts bags of experience in the Premier League.
What would Traore bring to Tottenham?
Quite simply, he’d bring a direct burst of pace that could get Tottenham on the front foot at a frantic rate. Espirito Santo knows all about him and he’d be hellbent on trying to get the very best out of him.
Jurgen Klopp has previously had some real praise for Traore. He called him ‘unplayable’ after a performance for Wolves against his Liverpool side in 2020.
The jury may remain out but it would certainly be an interesting signing. With better players, he could thrive. Now that Harry Kane has put pen-to-paper, he could really benefit from Traore’s pace and ability to create chances.
Traore could prove to be a really exciting signing for the Tottenham ranks.
